Who We Are

A community of believers

At Calvary, we are a community of believers who are passionate about two things: teaching the Word of God and worshipping Jesus. We believe that the Bible is the living Word of God, and we teach it every Sunday with simplicity and clarity. Our aim is not to impress with fancy words or complex theology, but to help people understand the truth of God's Word and apply it to their lives.

We also love music, and we set aside time in our services to worship Jesus with contemporary worship songs. We believe that worship is not just about singing, but about offering our hearts and lives to God as a living sacrifice.

We are a come-as-you-are church, and we want everyone to feel welcome and accepted. Whether you're a longtime Christian or just exploring the faith, you'll find a warm and friendly community at Calvary. Above all, we are reliant on the Holy Spirit to guide us and empower us in everything we do.

Where We're Headed

Open to the Spirit's leading

At Calvary Chapel Albany, we believe that God's plans are higher than our own, and we strive to remain open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We understand that our plans may not always align with God's plans, but we trust that He will guide us as we seek to reach people with the love of Christ.

One of our core values is the simple and truthful teaching of the Bible. Another is the love and unity of the body of Christ. We believe that Jesus called us to love one another, and it is through our love for each other that the world will know that we are His disciples.

As we continue to follow Jesus and serve in our community, we remain steadfast in our commitment to staying the course that God has set before us.

Where We Come From

A need for Bible teaching in Albany.

Calvary Chapel Albany was founded in 1995 by Pastor Chris and his wife Donna, with the support of Steve and Sarah Fisher.

They saw a need for a Bible-based ministry in the city of Albany and were passionate about sharing the truth of God's Word with others.

From the beginning, Calvary has had a heart for young families, but over the years it has grown to include people of all ages and backgrounds. Today our community is made up of a diverse group of individuals united in their love for Jesus and their desire to serve Him.

As we continue to grow and serve, our goal remains the same: to share the love of Jesus with everyone we meet and to make disciples who will in turn make more disciples.
